Cocktail Bar

Bar drinks should sharpen the appetite, pep you up and tickle your palate. They have to be something nice to look at, palatable and - icy cold.

For our hotel guests, the Lobby Bar is open 24 hrs a day. It’s most agreeable to visit our Bar after a labour-intensive day to have a chat.

Sometimes you just go on discussing topics of the day, and sometimes you get into contact with new people.
Where does the word Cocktail come from?

The Cocktail owes its name to cockfights in America, which, although mainly a matter of the past, still go on in some regions of America.

People used to have a little drink on the winning cock. The winning-cock’s owner had the right to tear off the defeated (killed) cock’s coloured cock – which was the ‘cock (‘s) tail’.

The toast went like this, ‘ Let’s have a drink on the cock’s tail.’

Cocktails can be produced in many different ways:
  • in the Shaker
  • in the Stirring - or Mixing Glass
  • directly in the glas they are served in
  • with the help of a blender
